WE CAN OFFER A SAFE HOME FOR PARROTS WHEN THERE IS A DOMESTIC DISPUTE SITUATION.
Our By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation allow us to act as a “safe haven” for your parrots. That means that if you are experiencing a domestic dispute, placement of your parrot in our facility will render your bird immune from any legal action by any party, and avoid any possible abuse or harm to your parrot.
You will sign an agreement placing your parrot under our protection. Contact us for specific information and a Safe Haven application.
Please note that in March, 2013, we were listed on the Domestic Violence Animal Shelter database, as maintained by the SUNY Buffalo Law School’s Women, Children & Social Justice Clinic.
WARNINGS, SCAMS AND IMPORT ADVISORIES
There are many scams out there, where individuals are selling or putting up for adoption, parrots (along with many other animals). These individuals, most of whom are located abroad, make it seem that they will ship the birds to you easily. These are SCAMS. Many scams originate in such countries as Cameroon. You need to check the routing and IP address of where the message originated from, and USE COMMON SENSE.
Don’t be taken in by what seems to be an irresistable offer. You will lose your money. NEVER obtain a parrot in this method. You will not obtain a parrot and wind up being a sucker to some thief who enjoys ripping you off.
Once you have been scammed, you will NEVER be able to recover your money. If you detect a scam involving animals, notify the nearest FBI office, the USDA-APHIS, and the US Fish & Wildlife Service Law Enforcement right away! It also helps to notify the national or international bird societies, such as the Avian Welfare Coalition or Audubon Society.
